Pathogen, Multi-Resistant Bacteria

Definition: Multi-resistant bacteria, also known as multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), are bacteria that have developed resistance to multiple classes of antimicrobial drugs. Specifically, these bacteria are resistant to at least one antibiotic in three or more different antibiotic categories. Multi-resistant bacteria pose a significant threat to public health, particularly in healthcare settings, where they can cause serious and hard-to-treat infections.
