IPLESP / INSERM
Institut Pierre Louis d’Epidémiologie et de Santé Publique (IPLESP), INSERM
The team participating to the project is part of the Equipe 1 “Surveillance and Modeling of Communicable Diseases” within the Institut Pierre Louis d’Epidémiologie et de Santé Publique (IPLESP) at INSERM and Sorbonne Université. The team is expert in mathematical models and computational thinking to assess epidemic and pandemic risks and propagation, accounting for the role of social contacts and mobility. Dr. Vittoria Colizza (Lead Team 4) has vast expertise in network epidemiology for modeling and predicting epidemic spread and persistence on networked structures of contacts. She has been active in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, advising French public health agencies and authorities. For her work, in 2020, she received her Knighthood of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic from the Italian President, and in 2021, she was awarded the Prix Irène Joliot Curie – Prix spécial de l’engagement by the French Academy of Sciences and the French Ministry of Research. Colizza is a Fellow of the Network Science Society since 2022, and currently Vice-President and Secretary of the Society.

Dr. Vittoria Colizza is our principal investigator at the INSERM, where she is fully emerged in science.
Q: Why did you choose to study science?
A: Because it was the most natural thing for me to do.
Lucille Calmon is our PhD student is currently at the INSERM in Paris, where she devotes her time to investigate temporal hospital networks.
