ARCANE Kick Off Meeting
Cross-Border Hospital Network Modeling Project
Paris, 21-22.10.2024
We’re excited to announce the successful kick-off of our project in Paris, where we gathered with partners to plan the future of hospital network modeling in France and Germany. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery across borders through advanced data-driven models.
Key Objectives and Focus Areas
At the meeting, we outlined the project’s main objectives:
- Modeling Hospital Networks
We’ll analyze the structure and dynamics of hospital systems in France and Germany, identifying areas for improvement in patient flow and network efficiency. - Analytical Tools
Our team will use SQL, SPSS, Python, and R to explore and model data, ensuring we leverage the right tools to meet the diverse needs of both healthcare systems. - — speaking of networks, we also networked ourselves! To strengthen our connections and get to know each other better, we proposed an ARCANE Exchange Program. This initiative aims to enable PhD and postdoc students to spend a few weeks working in the partner country, providing invaluable hands-on experience and fostering cross-border collaboration. We hope to secure funding for this program through Procope and the DAAD.
Our Vision: Why Healthcare Networks Matter
Our team is passionate about the potential of healthcare networks to improve care quality and accessibility. By understanding these networks better, we aim to generate actionable insights that benefit patients, providers, and policymakers.
Next Steps
With the project officially launched, our immediate focus is on data cleaning and preliminary model building. These foundational steps will pave the way for advanced analyses, including temporal and spatial modeling of healthcare networks. Once these stages are successfully completed, we plan to release open-source code to facilitate access to and integration with healthcare databases. Stay tuned for updates!
